Since the purchase of the T/A, I need to make room in the pole barn. So a decision was made to sell my '68 Firebrid convertible project. As much as I would like to keep her, I needed the room and sold her (to a good home) in October 2002.
This is a project car. There is a lot of work to be done. It is a typical Michigan Car. There is rust, but the frame and trunk are very solid. There is a lot of potential in this car.
About the car:
This is a 1968 Firebird Convertible. The body color is Autumn Bronze with a Ivy Gold interior and a Black top.
It was has power steering, power brakes and power top, remote driver's side mirror. It has bucket seats and floor console.
the engine originally was a 350 2bbl with a 2 speed trans.
What has been done:
The engine was replaced with a 1972 Pontiac 350 and built to HO specs with 4bbl carb and headers and full dual exhaust. The
transmission was rebuilt. The radiator is new as well as the brake lines and shocks. The car runs great, but the last time I started
it the fuel pump was not working, which may just need to be replaced.
What needs to be done:
Outside
The floors are bad, I have two new full floor-pans to put in. Driver's side is already cut out and
ready to have the new one welded in. The frame is very solid and the trunk is also in very good shape. The
rear quarters are rusted along the bottom. I have two quarter panel skins. The passenger's side has been
installed but needs finishing. The driver's side still needs to be done. The dash is rusted at the base
of the windshield. I do not have a new one but they are available for about $100.00 The doors are in good shape
and only need minor work, there are small rust holes about the size of a golf ball and can easily be patched. The front
fenders are in good shape again there are small rust holes about the size of a golf ball and can easily be patched.
The bumpers are in ok shape but should be rechromed to look best. It also needs a windshield.
Inside
The interior needs a new carpet and the front seats need to be recovered. The rear seat in in good shape.
The door panels should be replaced. The floor console is in good shape. The AM radio is missing, but the dash has not
been cut up. The Dash pad is in good shape but should be re-dyed because of fading.
I have many parts that go with this some new and some used. I have NOS passengers side fender, wheel-well trim and
rocker moldings. I have both floor pans. I have two doors from a Camaro that are in good shape. I also have white seats
(front and back) from a Camaro that are in good shape that can be used or recovered with Firebird trim. I also have a good trunk lid from
the Camaro as well. I also have good bumper from another Firebird.
