Grand Prix "G-Force"

Pontiac G-Force Changes Grand Prix Design, Power
Chicago, Ill. February 7, 2002.

General Motors Pontiac division introduced the G-Force, a new design of the popular Grand Prix model, during the media preview of the 2002 Chicago Auto Show today. The G-Force incorporates considerable changes in the Grand Prix appearance and some changes in the car's engineering.
"Pontiac's role in GM is to be the excitement division," said Lynn Myers, Pontiac-GMC general manager, explaining the changes to the already popular model. "And we are re-igniting Pontiac's excitement."
By far the most substantial changes to the original Grand Prix model are aesthetic. The G-Force has sculpted taillights, a power-bulge hood, exaggerated wheel flares and headlamps, and fender sweeps that are integrated into the car's natural shape. Inside, the G-Force features touch-activated controls, which put gear shifts and other essentials within easy visual and physical reach, and a center control panel angled toward the driver.
The most impressive power change that the G-Force brings is a supercharged 3800 series II V6 engine, which produces 280 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque. This allows the car to hit a top speed of 150 mph and .85 G's of force. Other performance changes include a front direct-acting stabilizer bar, 4-channel vehicle dynamic control system, electronic dynamic front/rear proportioning, and adjustable rebound struts at all corners.
