Pontiac Power I will start off April early with this fine Grand Am from Joseph A. Fuccio. It is a rare (1 of 233) 1979 Grand Am Hurst 4-speed. I'll let Joe tell you the story: "It was December 1978 - I walked in to McKenzie Pontiac in Omaha, Nebraska looking to order a Trans-Am. Bill Upton (Friend of the family and salesman for McKenzie Pontiac) took out a Factory Brochure on Nascar Limited Edition Hurst Pontiacs. The Brochure said Limited Edition Nascar Hurst Pontiacs. Of course there were only two cars in the brochure. The Grand-Prix Hurst run on the Nascar Circuit by Richard Petty and the Grand-Am run on the Nascar Circuit by Geoff Bodine. I've Attached a Picture of Bodine's Nascar Grand National White Grand-Am. Bill said "Sweet isn't it". I said "Can this car be ordered". Bill responded with "Yes you can, but it will be the first one ordered by this Dealership". Well I ordered a new 1979 model and it took a little over two months before she came in. I picked the Two Tone Black and Gold exterior with Carmine Burgundy Red interior. She came standard with the Trans-Am Drive Train of a Pontiac V-8, Big Rochester QuadraJet 4-barrel carburetor, plus a Factory Hurst 4-Speed Shifter. The package was called WS6 Hurst Edition. Well I have owned the car for now for 23 years and I still get wound up just looking at her. I really enjoy entering her in shows and parades. But, there is no better feeling than driving her down the road, shifting gears, on a winding stretch of road. Taking her down to the local Dairy Queen with the wife and cruising some of the car corals in our area. Pictures - Pontiac Owners Association Car Show and at a local park gathering." Thank you. Best Regards, Joseph A. Fuccio
